INTERVIEW WITH CÉDRIC DE LESTRANGE, PRESIDENT OF AXE IMMOBILIER FOR RADIO IMMO - MIPIM 2024

Rising interest rates, increasing land-use restrictions in certain municipalities, and heavier, market-disconnected taxation: these are all obstacles to developing a sufficient number of housing units. This means we need to be able to evolve the city according to its needs, notably through virtuous building conversions beneficial for both ecology and usage intensity.

How do we address this persistent supply crisis? How can we recreate a virtuous circle around rental investment to sustainably increase the housing stock? What are the technical and economic factors needed to transform underperforming office buildings that depress rents into attractive housing that meets societal needs?

Cédric de Lestrange, president of Axe Immobilier, spoke with Grégory Darricau of Radio Immo at MIPIM 2024 in Cannes to analyze these issues and go beyond the assumption that tax investment schemes are the be-all and end-all for boosting demand. He also discusses Axe Immobilier’s choice not to succumb to land speculation, as well as its crisis recovery strategy and redevelopment prospects for 2024.
